Appamādo amatapadaṁ, / pamādo maccuno padaṁ;

Appamattā na mīyanti, / ye pamattā yathā matā.

SN 48.56 Patiṭṭhitasutta

Ekadhamme patiṭṭhitassa, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno pañcindriyāni bhāvitāni honti subhāvitāni.
Katamasmiṁ ekadhamme? Appamāde. Katamo ca bhikkhave, appamādo? Idha, bhikkhave,
bhikkhu cittaṁ rakkhati āsavesu ca sāsavesu ca dhammesu.

Tassa cittaṁ rakkhato āsavesu ca sāsavesu ca dhammesu saddhindriyampi bhāvanāpāripūriṁ gacchati.
Vīriyindriyampi ... Satindriyampi ... Samādhindriyampi ... Paññindriyampi bhāvanāpāripūriṁ gacchati.
Evampi kho, bhikkhave, ekadhamme patiṭṭhitassa bhikkhuno pañcindriyāni bhāvitāni honti subhāvitānī"ti.

The rain-soaked seed:

(AN 3.76) kammaṁ khettaṁ, viññāṇaṁ bījaṁ, taṇhā sneho

Kamma is the field, consciousness the seed, craving is the moisture

(Snp 2.1) Te khīṇabījā avirūḷhichandā, / Nibbanti dhīrā yathāyaṁ padīpo;

They, destroyed the seed, have no desire for growth, the wise go out like this flame.

(SN 22.54) Rūpupayaṁ, bhikkhave, viññāṇaṁ tiṭṭhamānaṁ tiṭṭheyya, rūpārammaṇaṁ rūpappatiṭṭhaṁ nandūpasecanaṁ vuddhiṁ virūḷhiṁ vepullaṁ āpajjeyya.

"Should consciousness, when standing, stand attached to (a physical) form, supported by form (as its object), landing on form, watered with delight, it would exhibit growth, increase, & proliferation.

AN 10.15 Appamādasutta

Yāvatā, bhikkhave, sattā apadā vā dvipadā vā catuppadā vā bahuppadā vā rūpino vā arūpino vā
saññino vā asaññino vā nevasaññināsaññino vā, tathāgato tesaṁ aggamakkhāyati arahaṁ sammāsambuddho;
evamevaṁ kho, bhikkhave, ye keci kusalā dhammā, sabbe te appamādamūlakā appamādasamosaraṇā.
Appamādo tesaṁ aggamakkhāyati.

Just as the great rivers -- such as the Ganges, the Yamunā, the Aciravatī, the Sarabhū, & the Mahī --
all go to the ocean, incline to the ocean, slope to the ocean, tend toward the ocean,
and the ocean is reckoned the foremost among them; in the same way, all skillful qualities
are rooted in heedfulness, converge in heedfulness, and heedfulness is reckoned the foremost among them.
