Thag 1.66 Meghiyattheragāthā (Meghiya's verse on his enlightenment)

When I heard his teaching / I stayed close by him, mindful.
I've attained the three knowledges / and fulfilled the Buddha's instructions.

AN 7.36, AN 7.37 Mittasutta (Seven qualities of a good friend)

(AN 7.36, Aj Thanissaro) Monks, a friend endowed with seven qualities is worth associating with. Which seven?

He gives what is hard to give. He does what is hard to do. He endures what is hard to endure. He reveals his secrets to you. He keeps your secrets. When misfortunes strike, he doesn't abandon you. When you're down & out, he doesn't look down on you.

(AN 7.36, Aj Sujato) Mendicants, when a friend has seven qualities you should associate with, accompany, and attend them, even if they drive you away. What seven?

They're likable, agreeable, respected, and admired. They admonish you and they accept admonishment. They speak on deep matters. And they don't urge you to do bad things.
